The Volkswagen Group assembles the A3, an automobile model. It has offered it to the public under the Audi brand since 1996. Motor Trend expected (as cited in the Motor Trend article listed in the "References" section) VOLKSWAGEN AG to offer the A3 in the United States as a 2006 model*. The mechanicals are shared with the other Volkswagen A platform cars. In the 2003 Frankfurt Motorshow, Audi launched the second-generation of the A3. The premium version of the A3 is the 3.2 Quattro with a 24-valve 3.2 L V6 engine. It delivers 250 bhp and a peak-torque range with a maximum value of 320 N·m from 2500–3000 rpm. *A five door version is expected for the U.S. market in May 2005.
