Asa Hutchinsonright Asa Hutchinson (born December 3,1950) was the Under Secretary for Border & Transportation Security with the Department of Homeland Security until January 2005. He was confirmed by a unanimous vote of the Senate in January 2003. During this time, he was appointed by President Ronald Reagan as U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Arkansas. At the age of 31, he was the youngest U.S. Attorney in the nation. Hutchinson served as a Member of Congress from Arkansas from 1997-2003. While in Congress, Hutchinson served on the Select Committee on Intelligence and the House Judiciary Committee. Hutchinson was a strong supporter of the impeachment of Bill Clinton and served as a manager on behalf of the United States House of Representatives in early 1999 when, along with several other Republican congressman, he made presentations to the United States Senate in order to attempt to convince it to convict Clinton. After being re-elected to his third term, he was appointed as Administrator of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). His brother, Tim Hutchinson, served one term in the United States Senate.
