Arya Stark

Arya Stark (aka "Arya Underfoot" aka "Arry" aka "Weasel") is a fictional character from George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire. Parts of the first three books (at least) in the series are told from her point of view. Arya, a nine year-old tomboy who flouts convention and authority, is the younger daughter of Lord Eddard Stark and Lady Catelyn Stark. When Eddard Stark is made the King's Hand in A Game of Thrones she and her older sister, Sansa accompany him to King's Landing. Along the way her direwolf, Nymeria, attacks the crown prince Joffrey Baratheon and Arya abandons her in the woods to save her from being killed by Joffrey's mother's family, the Lannisters. In King's Landing her father arranges for her to study fencing under the Braavosi Syrio Forel using Needle, the sword her brother Jon gave her. When the Lannisters seize King's Landing following Robert Baratheon's death, Syrio Forel helps her escape the Red Keep; using his training she is able to evade capture until joining up with the Night's Watch. Posing as a boy, she travels north towards the Wall. Captured by Gregor Clegane and the Brave Companions she is brought to Harrenhal, where she is reuinted with one of the convicts headed for the Wall, Jaqen H'gar, a Faceless Man whom some fans believe to be Syrio Forel. H'gar promises to kill three people for Arya, who had saved his and two other lives during a fire (thereby denying R'hlorr, the God of Light, their deaths) and becomes a sort of mentor to her. When he leaves Harrenhal he gives her a coin and the words Valar Morghulis, teling her that the to together will help her find him, if given to any Braavosi. Arya aids Roose Bolton's northern army in taking Harrenhal by freeing some of his men from the castle dungeons. She is made Bolton's page, but after learning he will be leaving her at Harrenhal in the care of Vargo Hoat and the Brave Companions decides to leave. With Hot Pie and Gendry she escapes and heads towards Riverrun, but is overtaken by Beric Dondarrion and briefly held captive. She arrives at the Twins in the middle of the Red Wedding, but with the help of Sandor Clegane travels to the King's Road. From there she makes it hoping to book passage to the Wall to find Jon Snow. She lacks sufficient funds, buts offers the coin Jaqen H'gar gave her to a Braavosi trader who, astonished, offers her his best cabin, concluding Arya's storyline in A Storm of Swords.
