Arundelian Marbles

The Arundelian Marbles are a collection of Greek marbles collected by Thomas Howard, 21st Earl of Arundel. They now belong to Oxford University. Some of these marbles have important inscriptions on them, from which historians have discovered many dates in Greek history. Among them is the Parian Chronicle, so called because it is supposed to have been made in the island of Paros about 263 BC, which gives Greek dates from 1582 BC down to that time.
