Ardjish

Ardjish, Artzike in Armenian, is an old town in the North East river of Lake Van (in Middle Ages called Ardjish Lake). It was fortified in early fourteenth century by the vizir Ilkhanid Ali Shah. Depopulated in eighteenth century (due the growing of the Van Lake waters) it was fully abandoned half nineteenth century.
