Archbishop Of Westminster

The Archbishop of Westminster is the Ordinary of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Westminster in the Region of Great Britain. The incumbent is a Metropolitan and normally the president of the Roman Catholic Bishops Conference of England and Wales. The archdiocese covers an area of 3,634 km² of the London Boroughs north of the River Thames and the boroughs of Waltham Forest and Newham in the west, together with the districts of Staines and Sunbury-on-Thames and the County of Hertfordshire. The Metropolitan see is in the City of Westminster where the seat is located at Metropolitan Cathedral Church of the Most Precious Holy Blood, Saint Mary, Saint Joseph and Saint Peter (not to be confused with Westminster Abbey). The Vicariate Apostolic of the London District was elevated to archdiocese status on 29 September 1850. The current archbishop is His Eminence Cormac Cardinal Murphy-O'Connor, the 10th Metropolitan Archbishop of Westminster.
