Archangel (Novel)

Archangel is a novel by Robert Harris set in modern Russia. It was published in 1998 and became a two part BBC drama in March 2005.

Plot synopsis

A historian, named Fluke Kelso, is met by an old man who saw Stalin dying, and Beria stealing a notebook he believes was Stalin's diaries. The old man suddenly leaves Kelso, and Kelso searches for him, eventually tracking down his daughter. When he finds him, he is dead. The daughter helps find the diaries which, although not by Stalin show he had a son. They then go to Archangel to find the son, which they do in woods near the city. It then appears he will become the next Stalin until the daughter of the old man shoots him to prevent this.
