Aqila Al-hashimi

Aqila al-Hashimi (Arabic عقيلة الهاشمي cAqīla al-Hāshimī; ; d. September 25, 2003) was one of three women on the Iraq Interim Governing Council. Al-Hashimi served in the Foreign Ministry under Saddam Hussein, the only member of the former regime to also have been in the 25-member Council. She died of abdomen wounds suffered five days earlier when her convoy was ambushed by six men in a pickup truck near her home in western Baghdad.
