Anointed One (Buffy The Vampire Slayer)

The Anointed One is a fictional character in the television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The character is played by Andrew J. Ferchland. Introduced in season one to help The Master escape his confinement, he is killed by Spike in the season two episode "School Hard". A prophecy foretold the coming of the Anointed One:
And there will be a time of crisis, of worlds hanging in the balance. And in this time shall come the Anointed, the Master's great warrior... The Five will die, and from their ashes the Anointed shall rise. The Brethren of Aurelius shall meet him and usher him to his immortal destiny. ...the Slayer will not know him, will not stop him, and he will lead her into hell.
In the episode "Never Kill a Boy on the First Date", a bus in Sunnydale was attacked by a group of the Master's vampires. The five inside it were killed, and a little boy in the bus, Collin, turned out to be the Anointed. After his "death" on the bus, he proved to be a bloodthirsty and vicious companion for the Master. In the second season, after the Master had been defeated, it was shown that the Anointed One has influence over other vampires and can make them do his will. In the third episode of the second season, he was killed by Spike. Spike placed him in a cage and hoisted it into the sunlight, destroying him. The Anointed One is also referred to by fans as The Annoying One, a name also used by Spike for the boy. The Hebrew word for "anointed one" is Messiah.
