Andrew Scheer

Andrew Scheer (born May 20, 1979) is a Canadian Member of Parliament. Born in Ottawa, Ontario, he was elected as a Conservative candidate in the 2004 elections in the riding of Regina%97Qu'appelle, beating the veteran NDP MP, Lorne Nystrom, by 861 votes. He is currently the second youngest sitting MP. Scheer currently sits on the Standing Committee on Transport and on the Official Languages Committee. Mr. Scheer is a social conservative. His past employment was with Independant MP Larry Spencer. Spencer was expelled from the Canadian Alliance Caucus and Mr. Scheer continued his employment. Scheer will be voting against the upcoming same-sex-marriage bill. Prior to working for Mr. Spencer, Mr. Scheer worked in the correspondence department of the Office of the Leader of the Opposition (OLO) in Ottawa. He studied history and politics and the University of Ottawa and the University of Regina, working as an Insurace Agent before being elected. He is married to Jill. Andrew and his wife have one child: a son, born on March 20th, 2005. His name is Thomas Scheer.
