Andrew Sachs

Andrew Sachs (born Andreas Siegfried Sachs, April 7, 1930) is a British actor. Sachs was born in Berlin, Germany. The family moved to England when Andrew was eight years old to escape the Nazi persecution of Jews. Sachs is best known for his role as Manuel, the Spanish waiter in the sitcom Fawlty Towers, and is now frequently heard as a narrator of television and radio documentaries. He is married to Melody Lang, who appeared in one episode of Fawlty Towers, 'Basil the Rat', as Mrs Taylor. He has also appeared as Skagra in the webcast/audio version of the Doctor Who story Shada that was completed by Big Finish Productions in 2003. In 2002 and again in 2004 he played Dr. John Watson in two series of original Sherlock Holmes stories for BBC Radio 4, which starred Clive Merrison as the famous consulting detective.
