Andor

Andor (or Andoria), an icy moon orbiting a ringed gas giant in the fictional Star Trek universe. It is the homeworld of a blue-skinned, antennae-bearing species called Andorians. Most Andorian cities are built underground to take advantage of geothermal warmth. The Andorians share their homeworld with a small sub-species called the Aenar, light blue/white-skinned, telepathic beings that resemble Andorians. Prior to the formation of the United Federation of Planets, it was the capitol world of the Andorian Empire. The semi-canon book identifies Andor's home star as Procyon VIII (Alpha Canis Minoris) in the Beta Quadrant. Andor is in close proximity to Betazed, Earth, and Vulcan. Andorians frequently decorate with geode stones, which may indicate an abundance on their homeworld. The planet boasts the Andorian Academy of Art, said to be the finest school of its type. Native lifeforms include a horse-like animal called a 'zabathu;' the 'Andorian bull,' noted for stomping around when angry; the 'Andorian amoeba,' which reproduces through symbiogenesis, and ice-burrowing worms known for generating heat. Andor: Name (m), meaning: The Manly, The Strong; Thor and Wodan are, respectively, the Nordic and Germanic gods of thunder and lightning
