An Lushan

An Lushan (安禄山; Hanyu Pinyin: ān lshān) (703 - 757) was a military leader of non-Han Chinese origin during the Tang Dynasty in China. Originally a military governor (jiedushi) in the service of the Tang Dynasty, he instigated the An Lushan Rebellion which marked the disintegration of the Tang's authority. At the height of his power, he was murdered by his own son.
