Amir Khusro
Abul Hasan Yaminuddin Khusrau
(1253-1325 AD), better known as
Amir Khusro Dehlavi
, was one of
India
's greatest poets. He wrote in both
Persian
and
Hindustani
. He was a
Sufi
mystic
and a spiritual disciple of
Nizamuddin Auliya
of
Delhi
. He is also credited as being the founder of both
Hindustani classical music
and
Qawwali
music. His poetry is still sung today in
Sufi
shrines throughout
Pakistan
and
India
.
