Ambitious Card

The Ambitious Card is a magic effect in which a signed playing card 'jumps' to the top of the deck repeatedly after being put somewhere in the middle. The effect is often credited to French magician Gustav Alberti, in the mid-1800s. However, there is a related idea in Ponsin's Nouvelle Magie Blanch Devoilee, published in 1854, that might precede that.
