Amanita Fulva

Status: ? Amanita fulva is a basidiomycete mushroom of the genus Amanita.

Characteristics

The cap is brown with a clearly lined margin. The gills are white and free from the stem. The stem is white, relatively long and thin, often hollow, and without a ring. The sack-like folva is patchy white with brown. It grows near various kinds of trees, often birch. A. fulva is one of grisettes that are a part of the amanita genus. The species in this group have slightly different colors and habitats, but look similar otherwise.

Uses

A. fulva is edible and has a pleasant taste, but it can cause stomach problems when consumed raw. Because of the white, free-standing gills, A. fulva can be confused with poisonous amanita species. The other grisettes are edible as well. Warning: do not rely on Wikipedia alone when identifying mushrooms for consumption.
