Alternative Claims Of Jew, Judaism And IsraeliteFollowing are present and past groups which controversially either claim themselves as Jewish/Israelites or think of some other groups as Jewish/Israelite when those other groups have not traditionally been given that identity. Some of these groups claim to practice Judaism or have a different definition of Judaism, others claim that the present day Jews are not actually practicing Judaism. None of these groups are considered to be Jewish in practice by by any major Jewish group (though some may have ethnic Jewish members), or by any other major religious authority:
