Altars Of Metal

Altars Of Metal is a web-magazine that started as a fanzine in 1998 by Dimitris Petrakis, in Heraklion of Crete, Greece. It was released in 2 issues including interviews of bands like Iced Earth, Kreator, Covenant, Ancient Rites, Rotting Christ, Septic Flesh, Amon Amart and Magus Wampyr Daoloth of Necromantia/Varathron etc. The 1st issue of Altars Of Metal was originally printed on a home computer's printer and was then photocopied with a colourful cover. It was released in March 1998 and sold about 40 copies. The second issue was released in November 1998, including interviews of Ancient, Beheaded, Edguy, Blakkheim of Diabolical Masquerade/Bewitched, Death, Dark Vision, Iron Savior, Obituary, Septic Flesh, Jackal's Truth, Armageddon, Godblood as well as Therion. It sold about 40 copies as well, like the first issue. It was then decided that the fanzine should be published online. The website was hosted at http://www.truemetal.org and later on had its own domain, under http://www.altarsofmetal.com .
