Alphonse James De Rothschild

Mayer Alphonse James Rothschild, born February 1, 1827 in Paris - died May 26, 1905 in Paris, was a banker and philanthropist and a member of the prominent Rothschild family. Known as Alphonse, he was the eldest son of James Mayer Rothschild (1792-1868). In 1857, in London, he married Baroness Leonora von Rothschild (1837-1911), the daughter of Lionel Nathan Rothschild (1808-1879) and Charlotte Rothschild (1819-1884). They had the following children:
  • Bettina Caroline (1858-1892)
  • Lionel James Mayer (1861-1861) died in infancy
  • Charlotte Batrix (1864-1934)
  • Edouard Alphonse James (1868-1949)
