Alan M. Smith

Alan Martin Smith (born November 2, 1962 in Bromsgrove) is a former English footballer, most famously associated with Arsenal. Smith joined Arsenal from Leicester City in May 1987, and spearheaded new Arsenal manager George Graham's winning side of the late 1980s and early 1990s. With Arsenal, Smith won the Football League twice in 1989 and 1991, the FA Cup and League Cup "double" in 1993, and the Cup Winners Cup in 1994 - scoring Arsenal's winning goal in a 1-0 victory over Parma AC. Smith scored 115 goals in 345 matches for Arsenal, and was twice the Division One top scorer, before retiring due to injury in 1995. Smith didn't quite repeat this success for England, playing 13 times and scoring just two goals.
