Alan Lightman

Alan Lightman (born 1948) is a physicist, novelist, and essayist from Memphis, Tennessee. He earned a bachelor's degree in physics magna cum laude from Princeton University in 1970 where he was Phi Beta Kappa. He earned a Ph.D. in physics from Caltech in 1974. He currently teaches at MIT.
