Air Kiribati Ltd, the only airline company of Kiribati, has been founded on April 1 1995, after the collapse of the former Air Tungaru Ltd. She is owned by the Government. Two planes: one Harbin Y-12 (Chinese) and one CASA C.212-200 (Spanish). Air Kiribati operates only domestic flights since 2003 (and most of the Gilbert Islands are linked but Banaba Island). The Line Islands and Phoenix Islands are too far for direct flights. Until 2004, Aloha Airlines connected Honolulu to Christmas Island on behalf of Air Kiribati, but because of the Aloha current difficulties, there are no more flights since April 2004. Flight diversions can also be arranged when required. Medievac and SAR are always considered priority to save lives of people.
