The Afro Celt Sound System are a musical group which attempts to fuse modern dance rhythms (trip-hop, techno, etc) with Celtic and African influences. Formed by Grammy-nominated producer Simon Emmerson, it is somewhat of a world music supergroup, featuring such artists as

James McNally (ex-Pogues; Bodhrn, accordion, whistle)
Iarla O'Lionaird (vocals)
Myrdhin (Breton harp)

Ronan Browne (uilleann pipes)

In 2003, Afro Celt Sound System changed their name to the simpler Afro Celts; however, their latest album, POD, was released under the Afro Celt Sound System moniker. Albums to date:
