AdrianusAdrianus of Tyre (c. 113-193), also written as Hadrian and Hadrianos, was a sophist of ancient Athens. He was the pupil and successor of Herodes Atticus, became a rival of Aelius Aristides, later taught rhetoric at Rome and was a secretary for Commodus. The Suda lists his works as Metamorphoses (7 books), On Types of Style (5 books), On Distinctive Features in the Issues (3 books), and epideictic speeches Phalaris and Consolation to Celer.
