The Airfield Defence Guards or ADG is a unit of the Royal Australian Air Force. They perform a similar function to the Royal Air Force Regiment, and are responsible for the defence of RAAF installations from ground forces. The ADG was formed in 1966. Since then it has served overseas in several countries, including Vietnam, Cambodia, East Timor, Afghanistan and Iraq. The main formation of the ADG is No 1 Airfield Defence Wing (1AFDW). Under the command of 1AFDW are three operational squadrons:

1 Airfield Defence Squadron - RAAF Edinburgh
2 Airfield Defence Squadron - RAAF Amberley
3 Airfield Defence Squadron (Reserve) - RAAF Amberley

All of these operate in the ground defence role, with Low Level Air Defence being the responsibility of the Royal Australian Artillery. In addition, No 2 Sqn and No 3 Sqn are re-deployable tactical units that enable the RAAF to maintain ground defence commitments either for itself or other formations.
