Adelaide MetroAdelaide Metro is the name for the public transport system of Adelaide, Australia. Adelaide Metro consists of bus, tram and train services running regularly mainly out of the CBD to the suburbs though there are some services which loop between the suburbs. Most notably, the public transport system includes the Adelaide O-Bahn which is the world's longest and fastest guided busway as well as other implementations of Bus Rapid Transit within the system like dedicated bus lanes at traffic lights. The system uses a unified system for ticketing, called Metroticket. New Smart Stops (high-tech bus stops) operate on Adelaide's most patronised routes (The Parade and Henley Beach Road). Adelaide Metro contracts the services of the following companies to operate the public transport system in Adelaide: On 24 April 2005, new contracts will come into effect. Torrens Transit will commence operating the north-east, inner north and inner south services. SouthLink will operate the services to the outer northern suburbs. Serco will cease to operate any services within the Adelaide Metro system. The system is operated jointly by the Government of South Australia through the Office of Public Transport. External links
