Action Of 31 May 1677This battle took place on 31 May 1677 between Femern and Warnemunde, north of modern-day Germany. The Danes had been blockading a Swedish squadron in Gteborg (Gothenburg), and each side had been sending fleets out regularly in the hope of a decisive victory at sea. The Swedish ships, under Sjblad, left to return to the Baltic and met a larger Danish squadron under Niels Iuel. The action started in the evening of the 31st and continued until the next morning.
