Act Of Settlement

• Act of Settlement 1652 enacted by Oliver Cromwell after the Cromwellian conquest of Ireland and the Irish Confederate Wars. It provided for clearance of those not loyal to Paliament and their lands to be granted to Parliamentary forces.

• Act of Settlement 1662 Requires settlements to be recorded. Protestants loyal to the monarchy are allowed to recover lands confiscated by the Commonwealth.

• Act of Settlement 1701 (12 & 13 Wm 3 c.2) is a piece of English legislation governing the succession to the English Crown
