1996
. It was formed on
April 1

1974
as a merger of the
Caernarfonshire
borough of
Conwy
along with
Betws-y-Coed
Llandudno
,
Llanfairfechan
and
Penmaenmawr
urban districts
, and the
Nant Conway Rural District
; and the
Denbighshire
urban district
of
Llanrwst
, and several parishes. It was abolished on
April 1
,
1996
along with Gwynedd, and merged into the
Conwy
county borough.
