A167 Road

The A167 is a road in North East England. Most of its route was formerly the A1 road until the A1(M) was built in the 1960's. The route starts from Topcliffe (A168) to Kenton Bar (A1/A696) via Topcliffe A168 Junction, Northallerton, A66(M) Junction, Darlington, A1(M) Junction 59, Newton Aycliffe, Ferryhill, Durham, Chester-le-Street, A1(M) Junction 63, Birtley, A1 Junction near the Angel of the North, (The first route of the old A1 runs via Wrekenton on the B1296. The second route of the old A1 runs via Low Fell on the A167. The third route of the old A1 runs from the A1(M) Junction 65 via the A194(M), the A19 Tyne Tunnel, to the Wide Open A1/A19 Junction.), Gateshead, Tyne Bridge, A167(M) Newcastle Central Motorway, Kenton Bar A1/A696 Junction. In 2004 construction started of the A167 bypass at Chilton near Ferryhill after 65 years of promises the residents of Chilton a bypass and it was that long ago the A167 did not exist as it was still the A1. Construction was scheduled from September 2004 to June 2005. 1-0167
