Youthanasia is an album by Megadeth, released in 1994. The title is a play on words of youth and euthanasia and, going by the lyrics in the title track, is about a lack of respect for one's elders. Continuing the trend indicated by Megadeth's previous album, Countdown To Extinction, Youthanasia featured a more relaxed sound and generally slower songs — slower than some older fans could tolerate. However, the album met with great financial success. Lyrically, the album displayes a huge variety of influences: mythology ("Elysian Fields" and "Blood of Heroes"), rape and incest ("Family Tree"), nuclear war ("Black Curtains"), and even a hit that reportedly began as a suicide note, "A Tout Le Monde".
