York Haven is a borough located in York County, Pennsylvania. As of the 2000 census, the borough had a total population of 809.

Geography

York Haven is located at 40°6'34" North, 76°42'53" West (40.109502, -76.714819). According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 0.9 km² (0.3 mi²). 0.8 km² (0.3 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 5.88% water.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there are 809 people, 278 households, and 197 families residing in the borough. The population density is 976.1/km² (2,531.8/mi²). There are 305 housing units at an average density of 368.0/km² (954.5/mi²). The racial makeup of the borough is 96.04% White, 0.74% African American, 0.37% Native American, 0.62% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.12% from other races, and 2.10% from two or more races. 1.24% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 278 households out of which 48.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.6% are married couples living together, 14.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 28.8% are non-families. 23.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 6.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.91 and the average family size is 3.40. In the borough the population is spread out with 36.7% under the age of 18, 8.8% from 18 to 24, 32.8% from 25 to 44, 15.8% from 45 to 64, and 5.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 29 years. For every 100 females there are 99.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 93.9 males. The median income for a household in the borough is $35,000, and the median income for a family is $32,917. Males have a median income of $29,375 versus $22,031 for females. The per capita income for the borough is $11,676. 15.0% of the population and 14.7% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 17.0% of those under the age of 18 and 0.0% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
