Wishaw

There is also Wishaw, Warwickshire Wishaw is a town in North Lanarkshire, Scotland. The main areas are: Cambusnethan, Coltness (East & West), Craigneuk, Gowkthrapple, Greenhead, Netherton, Pather and Waterloo. It had a population of 28,565 in the 2001 census and is 15 miles south-east of Glasgow. There are two adjoining villages: Overtown and Newmains. Whilst it is not sure where the name of the town comes from (some people think it was the Romans, "Wicket gate in the wood", and that it used to be called Wygateshaw), some locals pronounce it "Wishie". Among Wishaw’s contributors to Scottish culture (popular or otherwise) are former world snooker champion John Higgins, underground film-maker Enrico Cocozza, popular recording combo The Jolt (September 1976 - June 1979) and musical directors/big-band leaders Freddy and Harry Bence.
