Winnipeg Sun

The Winnipeg Sun is a daily newspaper in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. On August 27, 1980, Southam Inc. closed the Winnipeg Tribune, after 94 years in publication, leaving Winnipeg with only one daily newspaper, the Winnipeg Free Press. On November 5, 1980, the Winnipeg Sun was first published, as a result of the need for another newspaper voice in the city. It was initially published Monday, Wednesday, Friday. The paper started publishing Sunday to Friday in 1982. In 1992 the Sun became a daily paper when it started publishing on Saturdays. Quebecor invested in the paper in 1983, and on May 10, 1999, relaunched the paper as part of its Sun Media chain of papers throughout Canada. The Winnipeg Sun is a division of the Sun Media Corp., a Quebecor company, published at 1700 Church Ave Winnipeg, Manitoba R2X 3A2
