Wave Race 64 is a racing game for the Nintendo 64 that was released on November 5, 1996. In Wave Race 64 you race on jet skis in many different weather conditions. There are also various courses where the races take place. To win each race you'll not only need to beat your opponents but also you'll need to successfully weave your jet-ski through various buoys. There are two types of buoys - red colored, which are signified by an R on them, and mean your jet-ski has to pass it on the right side, while yellow buoys, which are marked with an L mean you have to pass them on the left side. Failure to do either of these will result in a loss of power (meaning your jet-ski will lose speed) and if you miss five buoys over the course of a race, you will be disqualified.
