Walnut Grove, CaliforniaWalnut Grove is a census-designated place located in Sacramento County, California. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 669. Geography Grove is located at 38°14'37" North, 121°30'44" West (38.243490, -121.512100). According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 8.9 km² (3.5 mi²). 8.1 km² (3.1 mi²) of it is land and 0.9 km² (0.3 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 9.86% water. Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 669 people, 245 households, and 159 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 83.1/km² (214.8/mi²). There are 282 housing units at an average density of 35.0/km² (90.5/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 49.78% White, 1.49% African American, 3.14% Native American, 21.23% Asian, 0.15% Pacific Islander, 19.13% from other races, and 5.08% from two or more races. 46.79% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 245 households out of which 31.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 43.3% are married couples living together, 15.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 35.1% are non-families. 31.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 14.3% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.73 and the average family size is 3.46. In the CDP the population is spread out with 25.3% under the age of 18, 11.4% from 18 to 24, 28.1% from 25 to 44, 18.4% from 45 to 64, and 16.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 35 years. For every 100 females there are 95.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 96.9 males. The median income for a household in the CDP is $40,179, and the median income for a family is $39,667. Males have a median income of $41,563 versus $23,417 for females. The per capita income for the CDP is $14,939. 11.3% of the population and 14.0% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 12.9% of those under the age of 18 and 3.0% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line. Points of interest The guyed KXTV/KOVR Tower is with a height of 615 m one of the tallest constructions in the world.
