Village Of The Branch, New YorkVillage of the Branch is a village located in Suffolk County, New York. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 1,895. The Village of The Branch is in the Town of Smithtown. Geography Village of the Branch is located at 40°51'15" North, 73°11'0" West (40.854221, -73.183413). According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 2.5 km² (1.0 mi²). 2.4 km² (0.9 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 3.09% water. Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 1,895 people, 605 households, and 513 families residing in the village. The population density is 778.4/km² (2,020.3/mi²). There are 611 housing units at an average density of 251.0/km² (651.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 95.83% White, 0.16% African American, 0.05% Native American, 2.59% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.84% from other races, and 0.53% from two or more races. 3.01% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 605 households out of which 37.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 76.4% are married couples living together, 6.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 15.2% are non-families. 13.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 5.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.92 and the average family size is 3.19. In the village the population is spread out with 23.7% under the age of 18, 5.6% from 18 to 24, 26.9% from 25 to 44, 27.1% from 45 to 64, and 16.7% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 41 years. For every 100 females there are 90.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 84.9 males. The median income for a household in the village is $83,036, and the median income for a family is $90,622. Males have a median income of $68,125 versus $38,125 for females. The per capita income for the village is $32,416. 4.7% of the population and 1.7% of families are below the poverty line.
