Verus (Senator)

Verus is a disambiguation page listing more than one person of that name.
Verus (died 219) was a Roman Senator and commander of the Legio III Gallica in Syria when he proclaimed himself Roman emperor in 219. His soldiers had shown themselves disenchanted with the reign of Heliogabalus the year before and Verus reacted by claiming the title of emperor. Heliogabalus had Verus executed, dispersed the legion and took away from Tyre, where its headquarters were, the status of metropolis.
