Unwritten LawUnwritten Law is an American pop punk band that started in early 1991. They broke out in 1999 for their best known singles "Cailin'" and "Seein' Red" in 2002 and have recently released a new single "Save Me" in December 2004 which appears on their latest album Here's to the Mourning. Growing up on the scenery and surf of San Diego, CA U.L. has a power punk sound all of their own. A band that features three guitar players, including Scott Russo who writes most of their music and provides lead vocals, U.L. has stated that they play most of their songs acoustically before ever adding metal effects. This unorthodox approach towards punk music is perhaps one of their greatest attributes. Coming up in the same rock scene that has produced longtime U.L. friends Blink 182 (the song "Josie" off of Blink's "Dude Ranch" album includes the lyrics "And my girlfriend likes U.L..." Russo also provided back up vocals on the song) the guys from U.L. have watched themselves transformed from a thrash punk garage band into international stars. Unwritten Law's Elva album was the #1 selling rock album in Australia in 2003 and they have toured extensivley there, as well as tours all over the U.S. since the mid-1990's. In 2004 drummer Wade Youman, the only original member of the band, was kicked out for on going disputes over a woman and money with Russo. Perhaps the most underrated drummer of all time, Youman faded out of site and made way for a tandem of drummers for their new album, "Here's to the Mourning" released February 1st, 2005. Adrian Young of the very popular band "No Doubt" and Tony Palermo of "Pulley" were the two drummers involved with the album. Band members include: Scott Russo - vocals, guitars.
