Ultimate SixCollected as Ultimate Spider-Man Vol.9, Ultimate Six is a seven-issue miniseries and fictional crossover between Spider-Man and The Ultimates. The series was written by Brian Michael Bendis, pencilled by Trevor Hairsine, and inked by Danny Miki. Captain America, Iron Man, and Black Widow capture Max Dillion (Electro) and detain him in a maximum-security S.H.I.E.L.D. superhuman prison beneath the Triskelion, along with Flint Marco (the Sandman), Otto Octavius (Doctor Octopus), and Norman Osborn (Green Goblin). With Thor and Hawkeye, Captain America goes after Sergei Kravinoff (Kraven the Hunter), brings him in, and Nick Fury informs the five captives that they have illegally altered their genetic code. Osborn is convinced that "There will be six" prisoners. Otto says he's ready to tell his captors whatever they want to know, and they allow him access to a laboratory, where his metal tentacles are held. Through an unexplained mental connection, he wills his tentacles to attack, impaling the two soldiers and two scientists (including Hank Pym), and then shuts down the prison's power, releasing the others and deactivating their gene nullifier collars. They rip through the prison complex, killing thirty-five personnel as they escape. Nick Fury immediately send agents to collect Peter Parker, in case Osborn goes after him. Fury introduces him to the Ultimates, who don't believe that Spider-Man is a teenager, and reminds them that he has defeated all five escapees on his own. From Wilson Fisk's abandoned summer retreat, Norman Osborn places a call to the Chief of Staff in regards to Nick Fury. The President chews out Nick Fury in regards to the call from Osborn, in which Osborn demanded $100 million, amnesty for himself and the others, and the return of his assets, or he would publicize his treatment at the hands of S.H.I.E.L.D. via Kraven's producers. Fury dispatches the Ultimates to head the production off, but it was a wild goose chase; Doc Ock hacks the Triskelion's mainframe with codes stolen during the escape, cuts the power, and the five attack. Sandman and Electro distract Spider-Man while Green Goblin attacks him from behind. S.H.I.E.L.D. takes Aunt May into protective custody while Fury and the Ultimates pick up the pieces at the Triskelion. The escaped villains have Parker, whom Kraven attacks for being a kid. Doc Ock knocks him down, and Osborn talks with Parker, calling him "my boy," and accusing Fury of lying to him. Parker doesn't believe him, refuses to join him, and Osborn threatens Aunt May and Mary Jane. Aunt May wants to see Peter, but the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents won't let her. Captain America and Nick Fury talk about how the attempts to recreate the Super-Soldier formula have created homocidal thugs like the Goblin. The six attack the White House, but a S.H.I.E.L.D. helicarrier arrives on the scene. The six and the Ultimates battle it out on the White House lawn. Sandman manhandles Iron Man, who tries to download his genetic code to disable him, but Sandman breaches his armour. Captain America tells Parker that his aunt is safe, and he turns on the Green Goblin. Doc Ock throws him through the building into the Oval Office, and the Wasp attacks Doc Ock; she eventually stops him by flying down his throat. Kraven attacks Parker, but an errant lightning bolt drops him. Iron Man receives the file and discorporates Sandman with a single shot. Goblin attacks Captain America, demanding Nick Fury, when Harry appears on the lawn, asking him to stop. While Harry talks to his father (who accuses Fury of setting it up), Iron Man downloads Norman's genetic sequence. Just as Norman is about to transform back to his normal shape, Iron Man shoots him. The blast doesn't stop the Goblin as easily as the Sandman, and it takes Iron Man, Captain America, and a squad of armed S.H.I.E.L.D. troopers to finally drop him. Thor defeats Electro at the prow of the helicarrier, Fury orders a cleanup, and Harry says he'll kill all of them for what he did to his father. While a press conference congratulates the Ultimates for handling the situation, Electro tries to convince his captors he was going to betray Osborn, Kraven claims he was being controlled, Sandman is sitting in a row of jars in cold storage, and Doc Ock is bound and gagged, but he can still feel his arms, stored in a S.H.I.E.L.D. lab thirty miles away. Hank Pym is recovering, and Peter Parker is reunited with a very irate Aunt May. As for Norman Osborn, he's in cryogenic storage, half-transformed, until S.H.I.E.L.D. can examine his DNA. Captain America and Nick Fury talk about how the next war will be a genetic war, and that the people in power decide what the wars will be fought over.
