Uss Midway

• The first Midway (AG-41) was the Oritani and then the Tyree before being chartered as a general auxiliary in 1942, renamed to Panay in 1943, and returned to her owner in 1946.

• The second Midway (CVE-63) was an escort aircraft carrier commissioned in 1943, renamed St. Lo one week later, and sunk in the Battle of Leyte Gulf one year later.

• The third Midway (CV-41) was an aircraft carrier commissioned just after the end of World War II, in service until 1992, and as of 2004 a museum ship in San Diego, California.
