was the
Tonawanda
renamed in
1869
.
The second
Amphitrite
was a
monitor
launched in
1883
, commissioned in
1895
, and active during the
Spanish-American War
. Decommissioned in
1919
, the monitor was used as a
floating hotel
and for housing, finally being scrapped in
1952
.
The third
Amphitrite
(ARL-29)
was a
landing craft
repair ship commissioned in
1945
and in service until
1947
.
