Tver

Tver (Russian: Тверь), formerly (1931-1990) Kalinin (Калинин) after Mikhail Kalinin, is a city in Russia, center of Tver Oblast (region). It is located at Stands at the confluence of Volga and Tvertsa rivers. The first written record of Tver is dated 1164. As of 2003, it has a population of 453,000. Most notable industry is the railroad cars plant (built 1898).
