Opening Sequence A FOX censor says that tonight's Simpsons episode is a TV-G rated episode, with "no raunchy NBC-style sex, or senseless CBS-style violence." But as he says that, a hand with a sword stabs the censor repeatedly, and the rating changes from TV-G all the way to 'TV-666". The censor dies, and blood reveals the title, "The Simpsons Halloween Special VIII". Synopsis The Homega Man Mayor Quimby comes under attack for a "frog's legs" joke he makes with France, and the French president warns him that if he doesn't apologize, the French will bomb Springfield. Homer gets a bomb shelter from Herman as the French launch a nuclear missile headed for America. It detonates, and a mushroom cloud envelops Springfield. After the blast, Homer is lucky to have survived as everyone has become a mutant. He feels happy that everything's gone, but realizes how he misses the rest of the family. As Homer is having fun, he is confronted by a band of mutants resembling Springfield citizens who threaten to kill him. Homer runs home, realizing that the other family members actually survived the blast because their house was protected by layers of paint. The freaks hope they can build a Utopian society with the Simpsons, but Marge and the kids blow them away with shotguns. Fly Vs. Fly Homer sees Professor Frink offering him a teleporter. Bart asks Homer if he can use it, but he won't let him. After making a pet that is a cross between Santa's Little Helper and Snowball II, Bart hopes he can cross his body with that of a fly's in hopes of becoming a superhero. Instead, the fly has Bart's head, and the fly's head is on Bart's body. Bart chases after the fly-Bart, and they get in a huge fight, until the freak-Bart goes through a transporter. Bart returns to a normal person, but an axe-wielding Homer never lets Bart use his machine again. Easy-Bake Coven Set in 1649, in Sprynge-Fielde, women who are accused of being witches are burnt at the stake, a'la the Salem Witch Trials. Reverend Lovejoy warns people that there is still a witch in town, and Marge is accused of being one. Chief Wiggum pushes Marge off the cliff, and she is found to be a witch. Marge joins her fellow witches, Patty and Selma, while Ned Flanders and his wife, Goodie Maude Flanders, are scared that the witches will eat Rod and Todd. Marge, Patty, and Selma overhear the Flanders and threaten to eat Rod and Todd, until Maude offers the witches gingerbread men she made, dropping the kids and starting the current tradition of Halloween. Quotes - Ralph Wiggum: Bye, witches! Thanks for not eating me!
Chief Wiggum: Yeah, you hags are alright! - Bart: Hey, Homer, can I use the teleporter?
Homer: Sorry, but this is a highly sophisti-ma-cated doo-wacky. If you don't use it responsibly, KA-BLAM-O! (punches fists in the air for dramatic effect, one of them goes into the teleporter) Lisa (from another corner of the house): Ow! Somebody hit me in the face! - Lisa: Wait! Doesn't the Bible say "Judge not, lest ye be judged yeself?"
Townspeople (muttering variously): Hey, yeah! She's right! I guess so. Chief Wiggum: The Bible says a lot of things.
