Treble Cone

Treble Cone is a skifield and a mountain nearby Lake Wanaka in the South Island of New Zealand. The ski-able area is 550ha and the field boasts the Southern Hemisphere's only High-Speed Detachable 6 seater chairlift which was installed in 1996. The terrain is 10% Beginner, 40% Intermediate and 50% Advanced. Treble Cone is renowned worldwide and hosts many overseas racing teams in their off-season. The ski-area came under new management in 2003. There are plans for a $4 million expansion in 2005, including a new high-speed chairlift in Saddle Basin and a new cafe. Treble Cone opened for the 2004 season on the June 24, and closed on October 11.
