Tokai, Ibaraki

Tōkai (東海村; -mura) is a village located in Naka District, Ibaraki, Japan. It is approximately 120 km north of Tokyo, Japan on the Pacific coast. As of 2003, the village has an estimated population of 35,281 and a density of 941.33 persons per km². The total area is 37.48 km². Tokai is best known for the nuclear accident that occured on Sept. 30 1999 which killed two people. Aside from nuclear facilities, Tokai has lovely beaches.
