• Professor Reinstein is assassinated by a Nazi spy resulting in the irretrievable loss of critical data for Project Rebirth. To make the most of the project's one successful public test subject, Steven Rogers becomes the patriotic superhero Captain America.

• December 23 - Hellboy appears in East Bromwich, UK
• 1945
• Captain America and Bucky are designated in missing in action in a mission to stop Baron Von Zemo. In reality, Bucky was killed and Captain America was frozen in ocean waters with his Super Soldier enhancements allowing him to safely enter a suspended animation state for decades.

• December 25 - Scrooge McDuck returns to business.
• 1948
• Hercule Poirot retires.
• Scottie McTerrier dies and is temporarily replaced by an imposter. Matilda McDuck becomes caretaker of the McDuck castle.

• Dave Lister lands on an exact replica of Earth after going through a cosmic storm. After meeting his future self, he does not go to see 'Run From the Wind'.

• Thanos collects the six Infinity Gems and creates the Infinity Gauntlet, which he uses to make half of the universe vanish, effectively killing half of everything all at once in a mass genocide, done merely to impress his consort Death. It is restored shortly thereafter following Thanos's battles with the superheroes and villains of the Marvel Universe, its cosmic entities, and Thanos's own niece Nebula.
