The World Is Not Enough (Video Game)

For the film see The World Is Not Enough.

The World Is Not Enough is a first-person shooter video game based on the James Bond film The World Is Not Enough. The game was published by Electronic Arts and released for the Nintendo 64 and PlayStation console systems in 2000. The Nintendo 64 version was developed by Eurocom and the PlayStation version was developed by Black Ops. Black Ops had previously developed the James Bond game Tomorrow Never Dies. Eurocom would later go on in 2002 to develop the Bond game Nightfire. A PC version of the game was planned for a release in 2000 as well, however, that version was cancelled. Coming off the failure of the previous Bond game, Tomorrow Never Dies, it was decided that The World Is Not Enough would go back to it's roots as a first-person shooter, popularized by the success of the Bond game GoldenEye 007. It would also see the reintroduction of the multiplayer portion of the game that gave GoldenEye 007 such a lasting appeal. Unfortunately, even though The World Is Not Enough was a semi-success on the Nintendo 64, it was released at a bad time. Also in 2000, Rareware, the developers of GoldenEye 007 released the highly popular and highly hyped video game Perfect Dark. Marketed as a semi-sequel to GoldenEye 007, Perfect Dark used the same engine and even had numerous similarities with GoldenEye 007.
