The Satanic Bible

The Satanic Bible was written by Anton LaVey in 1969. It contains a collection of essays, observations and basic Satanic rituals, and outlines LaVey's unique Satanic philosophy (though influences include Machiavelli, Aleister Crowley, Friedrich Nietzsche, Ragnar Redbeard, and Ayn Rand among others). The book serves mainly to unify some of the universal tenets of Satanic thought, and is not (by and large) considered to be a rigid Satanic doctrinal code. Rather, it is LaVey's personal philosophical foundation which makes up his personal ideology of "Satanism". Note: Most people who practice Satanism as described in LaVey's Satanic Bible don't see it as "worshipping Satan" as many people tend to think, but more of a religion based upon knowledge, philosophy, insight and self deification.
