The Green Mile (Movie)

The Green Mile (1999) is an American drama movie, and is directed by Frank Darabont. It stars Tom Hanks, Michael Clarke Duncan, Michael Jeter, and Bonnie Hunt. It is based on a six part novel from writer Stephen King. The setting is a 1930s death row prison named by its guards and inmates, "The Green Mile". Tom Hanks plays Paul Edgecombe who is a veteran guard of the death row prison ward. He along with his guard-mates Brutus "Brutal" Howell (David Morse) and Dean Stanton (Barry Pepper) try to keep the inmates at peace before their excecution. They are surprised one day to receive a very large inmate named John Coffey (Michael Clarke Duncan). Although he seems polite and mild mannered, he is on death row for murdering and raping two little girls. Along with John Coffey are three other inmates, Eduard Delacroix (the late Michael Jeter), Willy Wharton (Sam Rockwell), and Arlen Bitterbuck (Graham Green). Tagline: Miracles do happen.
